Fixing Blog and Mechs

I started these RAFM Heavy Gear conversions 10 months ago, back when the after effects from getting shingles was still bothering me. But, as life would have it, I forgot about them. After, I started painting the Mk4 Ogre I decided to slap some paint on these too.

Then, after reaching this point, I realized I'd not actually finished adding all the details to them, which meant stopping working on them to fix the omissions.

Doh! Don't you hate it when that happens?

And, to add insult to injury, I discovered that blogger no longer seems to support hashtags. So, I had to go through all my tags and remove them, so as to allow my blog to sort posts again, which still seems buggy.

In this case, no longer sorting by date.

And yes, I've logged out. Logged back in again, with a verification code, and my directory of posts is still not sorting by date.

It is what it is.

  1. They look great Tamsin! Such a distinctive Green you use for your Mechs too

I always get inspired when your post your great RAFM Gears, only to get distracted again by something else.
Of course you DID promise me a magnetising tutorial post - maybe that would get my backside into gear? :-)

    1. The lady’s name is Ashley. She is not the awful Tamsin P.

    2. Anonymous: Is that you Tamsin? Paul must be having a senior moment. ;-)

    3. I do remember the promise, Paul. It's just a matter of getting around to it. I've been distracted. You know how it is, and forgot.

    4. OMG - apologies for the senior's moment, having just sent Tamsin a message.
My sincere apologies - it doesn't nothing to detract from your wonderful models
No problems on the tutorial, it will be worth waiting for I know :-)

PS Sorry to see you are also having an Anonymous Troll problem - a few of them popping up these days!

    5. Chill. I wasn't offended. Tamsin makes and paints great models. Happy to be considered in her company.

  2. Just found your blog and I love your work! Also, wow, absolutely love these, and that green is gorgeous. That reminds me, I must see if I can find some 2nd hand RAFM HG models...

    1. Cheers, your comment made my day. I got a lot of mine off eBay.

  3. These are stunning. Writing a miniatures game at the moment and lifting the palette from Mellowlink as much as I can. Do you know what happened to these old RAFM moulds? I'd love to track down a complete Hunter (#1200). I have a Marcus miniature from the show which is a holy grail miniature for me. Went to UK Games Expo and finally caved and bought my first Blitz box!

    1. Rumour has it that there was a fallout between DP9 and RAFM when the former decided to change the scale of the Gears from 1/87th to 1/144th.

But, quite frankly, who knows. RAFM became IWM, and I imagine unless steps were taken to store the masters and moulds, nothing survives. I could be wrong.

I've just added a contact widget to the blog so you can use it to email me, as I have some spare RAFM models.

    2. Oh, interesting! I thought it was Ral Partha that became IWM. Could do with a family tree for this business. Wherever they are, I hope they weren't destroyed and are kept safe, even if they never see the light of day again. I think people would pay for them if they were spun up one last time, especially scale modellers and display scale painters. IWM have larger "miniatures" of the Madcat and Rifleman IIRC. Would be great to see similar offerings from DP9.

Ta very much! I'll use the link and shoot you an email.

    3. You are correct. I was wrong. RAFM was/became Ral Partha.

    4. It becomes doubly confusing with Ral Partha Legacy and Ral Partha Europe being separate businesses with unique products and then other non Ral Partha entities carrying what were Ral Partha lines. You need a detective style murder board for tracking this stuff.

I sent you a message using your contact box. No rush to reply of course. Just mentioning as it included a link to a nobleknightgames page of a Hunter blister and thought spam filters might have gobbled it up en route.

      Ta!

      James.

  4. I appreciate it. Zero rush though! I mean that.

    1. Even with aircon in one room, the flat is a bit hot at the moment. All I want to do is flake out with a glass of cold water.
