ABC Warriors

And will miracles never end? Finally, after more years than I care to recall (got to be 30 plus), I've finally painted up this handful of 15mmABC Warriors 'Atomic', 'Bacterial' and 'Chemical' warfare robots inspired by Starlord and 2000AD.

Above are Mongrol, Hammerstein, and Joe Pineapples. Below Deadlock, Mad Ronn, and Blackblood.

Group shot from above of all of them together.

NB: These were from Citadel.

Blog Anniversay

Little did I know in 2009 when I published my first blog post that  I would still be creating posts in 2022. But here we are. I had intended to show some progress with making trees for my jungle, but it was not meant to be.

So instead, some work in progress (or lack of progress) shots of of what I'm currently painting.

Still, thirteen years of blogging is a thing. My blog is now a teenager, so that explains the erratic posts as articles hide away sulking until pictures look right.

Catch you all on the bounce.

OMWB: Scaling the Mountain of Lead

These ABC Warriors have sat in the lead pile for more years than I care to remember. And it has to be said that sat around in primer for nearly three years too. Okay, let me put that into perspective for the younger followers who may be reading my blog.

My guess these were bought circa 1988.

Unpainted figures in the lead mountain lie. Given enough time, may even appear in a game or two.

So I've laid down the first coat of green with some wash to increase the depth of the shadows, and next is the mid-tones and highlight shades. After that, I'll add some red to make them pop.

And, my Martian Metals K'Kree that have also sat around after being primed waiting for me to notice them too.

As I've said before, these K'Kree are rarer than rocking horse shit. I picked them up circa 1984 on a trip to Toronto from a store on Yonge  Street. Along with my Zhodani marines that I posted here, which can be found in the side-bar under Martian Metals.

It has only taken me four years from noticing that they needed to be cleaned, then another year until primed before they finally wandered onto my paint table. Slow is steady, I guess!?

ABC Warriors

I found that I had these figures in my stash of shame. They're all lead castings, so they were looking a little sorry for themselves as they had darkened with age. I decided that something had to be done to prevent them from deteriorating further.

A thorough going over with a glass fiber scratching brush cleaned them up, and in one of my rare spurts of enthusiasm I ended up priming them with mat white Humbrol enamel. My go to primer for metal miniatures.

I no longer remember who made these, and there was no identifying mark on their bases, which is not that surprising given that I doubt they were licensed replicas.

That's not really Ro-Jaws, it's a generic droid from some other range that I had hanging around.

My plan is to paint them in green and red to match the comic. But first I will need to do the black for the shadows.
