Yep, no picture of our Christmas tree this year for reasons that fall under boring real life problems sucking the life out of living.
Instead, what we scored; that's what I got for the two of us. The only exceptions are Just Stab me Now, which I bought for Susan, who has her nose in it now. So, good choice. The other was the book Solo Wargaming for yours truly.
We've got older DVDs of the movies, but as we have a most excellent sound system, courtesy of Susan, and a big screen, Blu-rays really do look better than DVDs (480i versus 1080p resolution).
However, I have finished some painting, despite everything dragging me down, I just haven't gotten around to taking any pictures of said models. Some will come, at some point in the not too distant future.
So that's all folks. Hope you all had a good Christmas.
Merry Christmas ladies!
ReplyDeleteThe solo wargaming book sounds interesting - looking forward to hearing more about it!
Sadly, I've come to the conclusion that my impoverished wargaming social life leads down the lonely road of playing with myself!
Deletethat's a good haul, my own home entertainment system badly needs an upgrade. and it's been nearly a decade since I got a new tv/screen. wishing the two of you more good times. may things go your way in 2025. Happy New Year! :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers. We have a roll down screen and projector, which gives us a 100 inch screen to go with our surround sound system that Susan made (I mean literally; she wound the coils of the transformers etc; she's an audio designer in her spare time).
DeleteMerry belated Christmas and Happy New Year! Stardust is an occasional guilty pleasure of mine (along with the first AVP film... I know it was bad but I love it!) and I didn't know there was a special edition.
ReplyDeleteAnd to you too. Stardust is lovely, the special edition is just the first Blu-ray transfer with some extras, which are nice to see. I agree AVP whilst cheesy was still fun.
DeleteIt took me about a decade after Stardust's release during a rewatch to realize that Henry Cavill plays the douchey love interest of Sienna Miller! :)
DeleteAnd Charlie Cox who plays Dare Devil is Tristan.
DeleteI hope 2025 is a better year for you than the end of 2024. Last year I enjoyed more of your novels on the boat to America so thanks for the writing, I'm hoping you are inspired to do more. Still the first of the Gate series is my favourite - I think for the lead character. Most of my games are solo or co-operative. I'm coming to the conclusion that I may prefer this on the basis that I provide the troops, choose the rules and proceed at my own pace. While it may not offer the challenge of a face to face game it does have the space to produce a good narrative.
ReplyDeleteHappy '25

Cheers Stephen. I am working on the next Gate Walker novel as my health allows.
