I get the impression that they've got the production chain for this kind of plastic manufacture sorted out relatively recently, and Ogre alone might not have justified the volume – I see this as a useful spin-off from the work they've been doing for the new edition of Car Wars.
(To people who know me: I have no inside knowledge.)
@Desert Scribe: No one in their right mind ever described the tabletop miniatures hobby as practical! :) Go for it! The ogres call for you *insert inception horn here*
@Ashley: I saw this advertised on dakka and figured I'd swing by just in case to let you know. Looks like I'm too late!
Unless they do a Vulcan and the Combine laser turret and tower I really don't need any more minis. Want on the other hand, well that's a different matter! ;-)
Oh, don't get me wrong, there's a lot of things I'll be needing for a proper OGRE game: Laser towers like you said, hovertrucks, etc. but for generic 'red vs. blue' sci-fi wargames? Get me some 1/300 mecha and I'll be set :)

I've already got more minis than are practical for me to get on the table for a single game. I'm sure it will make others happy, though.
ReplyDeleteYou are very far from being alone on that front!
DeleteSo say we all, but I do wish SJG luck.
DeleteIMNSHO this is what they should've done in the first KickStarter.

In this case my connection to SJG as a MIB meant I was ahead of the curve for once.
DeleteI missed the opportunity to get them without paying eBay prices the last time they were available...Not making the same mistake this time!

Hmmm, Now I don't have to write the rules and I can move onto the next thing. Thanks for pointing these out!
DeleteMy pleasure.
