Russian Quad Mech Repaints

It has been a year since I posted anything about my Russian four legged walkers. I seem to be suffering from the time loss equivalent of the MCUs Infinity War snap. Instead of half the population disappearing, it's time.

I start writing something, get distracted by something else, then look around to find the whole day has flown by.

I was going to apply decals, but I wasn't happy with the paint job. I wanted more contrast and to also make the models look sharper. Make them pop. So here's a comparison shot of the revised paint on the left versus the old paint on the right.

And I'm still not convinced this new look is the look I want (edit to add first version of this scheme).

My painter's lament, sigh...

  1. Both paint jobs are great, I do like the new versions though!

  2. Hi, Ashley,
I am currently on a to trip through the USA and brought your Russian Civil War stories and the Anthology of short stories you recommended that has one of yours in it. I've already read and need them all so thank you. It's good to read that you are still writing.
I like. both your paint schemes and not sure which I prefer.
All power to whatever creative task comes next.
    All the best,
    Stephen

    1. Cheers, for buying and reading them. I could lament my failures to achieve what I intended to write with the AI, but it's all good.

Glad you've enjoyed my short stories and, if you can, please leave a review somewhere.

  4. They both look fine Ashley. One's own work always looks worse to the painter than it really is. Thatgives you two fresh out of the factory paint jobbies and two older, scruffier ones.

I note that happily, Russia's latest AI-asssisted super-duper-stealth drone has not gone as well as Putin might have hoped.

    Regards, Chhris.

    1. I figured out what was nagging me about the paint jobs on these. My goal was to have them looking like a homage to the British Berlin Brigade camo. I mean, the Russians copied lots of camo schemes, and so it seemed to me it would be fun.

I somehow lost track of what is essential to selling the Berlin scheme, and that was the blocks of colour have to break up the shape, and the version I did here doesn't quite do that well enough.

As for Putin, he can fuck off, and when he's fucked off, he can fuck off some more, and fuck off again for good measure. Just to make my feelings plain on Putin.
