These are the model reference pictures I sent to the artist who drew my covers. Above is the model that he used for Bad Dog.
Above is the picture I sent for the cover of Strike Dog. And below is the picture I shot in response to seeing the cover for Ghost Dog.
I think the Ghost Dog cover in particular, and the action poses on the earlier covers, all make it usefully clear that this isn't just a Battletech copy: these suits aren't the kings of the battlefield, they're agile, not to mention small and squishy by the standards of other things out there.
ReplyDeleteGlad you think so.
DeleteAfter all, VOTOMS is my favourite anime show.
Really interesting, as someone who wishes they could, but can't, I was fascinated by the transition from source to final piece, in each case the artists ability to translate into something so atmospheric is amazing.
ReplyDeleteHe's a real find. Can't express how lucky I've been having him do the covers for me.
DeleteIt's cool to see the inspirations for the covers.
ReplyDeleteAnd just a little obsessive, which I can do because I'm in control of the artwork. OTOH there's only me to blame if the books don't sell.
DeleteThats very cool!
ReplyDeleteMust be quite something to see your modelling handiwork turned into something so visual
It is, and it also inspires me to make different variants and poses.
